At the beginning of the month, we celebrated our 22nd annual recital! Wow- 22 years! Each year brings joy and celebrations and memories. Our dancers were well-prepared to take the stage. From our youngest dancers to our graduating seniors, each student shone on the stage.
The young dancers overcame their fear and danced on the stage under the lights. One of my favorite memories from this recital was when one of our younger dancers came off the stage shouting, “I did it!” She hadn’t learned that we try to stay quiet in the wings, and we all loved her shouts of pride. The audience could hear it too and all chuckled. It was joy and pride in doing something that once seemed scary. And our teacher hearts were all proud!
One of our students this year took the stage for the first time despite being blind. Ms. Brenna lead her through the dance with verbal cues and guided her to her various formations in her dance. She and her class all did an exceptional job. Again the audience cheered. This dancer came off the stage with the biggest smile. And our teacher hearts were all proud!
This year, we celebrated four graduating seniors who had all been dancing with us for over 10 years! We have watched these girls grow up (some from toddlers) in the studio. Each year, we recognize our seniors and celebrate their accomplishments as we wish them well in their next chapters. We know these girls are going to do amazing things. We watched them perform in their last recital and dance their senior solos. And our teacher hearts were all proud!
These are only a few of the things that filled us with pride. We hope that our students felt that sense of pride in showcasing what they have learned and giving their performances their all. Now, we start planning for season 23 and can rest assured that many more moments of joy and pride await!
