Our Company Camps are off to a great start! Each year in August, we start out the year with our Company Camps. Our competitive dancers meet for 2 days to meet their teacher, meet their new dance team members, begin learning their choreography, and have some fun! At Center Stage in Leander, we have several company groups including jazz/lyrical dance teams, hip hop dance teams, and pom dance teams.
During the Company Camps, each team meets their teacher for the year. The teacher then leads the dancers in introductions and a getting-to-know-you game. Then, the dance class starts with a warm up and across the floor work. The teacher will usually teach a dance combination in the center or begin working on choreography for their competition dances. It takes several months to polish the dances and prepare them for the competition stage. At Company Camp, the dancers may participate in dance games to develop their creativity and own style as well.
Here are a few pictures of our first two weeks of Company Camp. We didn’t get to take pictures of all our groups. Stay tuned for Part II of Company Camps.
