Each year at Center Stage brings new friendships and new memories. It’s always fun to take a moment to reflect on the past year. We hope you enjoy looking back with us.

January 2019 brought our annual pointe shoe trip for the girls who have earned their pointe shoes. This is a huge accomplishment in a dancer’s life, and we love celebrating with the girls when they reach this milestone in their dance journeys.

In February of 2019, our company dancers performed their competition dances at the Leander Business Exposition. This is a great “rehearsal” performance before our competition season begins. We love showcasing our beautiful dancers’ talent to the Leander and Cedar Park community.

Our little dancers had a blast at our spring break dance camp in March of 2019. We had a magical unicorn party that was full of dancing, creativity, and fun! We hope to host another spring break dance camp this year.

Our regional dance competitions usually start in April. In 2019, we attended Starquest and Groove competitions. Our dancers performed beautifully. We look forward to the 2020 competition season coming up!

May wraps up our competition season. In May, our classes are working hard on polishing their recital routines for our recital in early June.

Each year, our dancers perform in our annual recital. This is always a fun and memorable event for the dancers. They get to shine on the stage showcasing what they have learned over the past year. 2019 brought with it our 15th annual recital!

The summer allows us time to offer several different dance camps for our younger dancers as well as dance intensives for our juniors and teens. Each summer we offer fun themed dance camps like Princess Camp, Hawaiian Camp, and Pop Star Camp for our dancers ages 4-8 years old. We offer dance intensives for our juniors and teens to focus on ballet technique, jazz technique, leaps and turns, improvisation, auditioning tips, and more. It’s a great opportunity for our students to further their training over the summer.

In August, we hold our Company Camps for our competition teams. In Company Camps, the teams get to participate in team-building activities and start their choreography for the upcoming season. This is always an exciting time for the dancers and teachers.

September means “Back to Dance” time! It’s a busy month with registration, dance shoe fittings, and the start of classes, but it is so much fun. The smiles of the dancers as they come in for their first class is priceless. The excitement is palpable. Our older students come in just as excited to see their dance friends again after a break and ready to further their dance training.

During the week of Halloween, our dancers and teachers all dress up in their costumes. The students love this week, and the teachers do too! It’s so much fun to see everyone in their costumes.

In November of this past year, some of our company students attended the Showstopper dance convention at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. The students took several classes from world-renowned choreographers and experienced new dance styles. They also had a blast with their dance friends at the indoor waterpark.

At the beginning of December, some of our dancers performed at the Old Town Leander Christmas Festival. This is such a fun event for our dancers and their families. The students perform in front of a giant Christmas tree. Then our dancers can enjoy the rest of the festival and Christmas parade with their friends and family. We love performing at this event!
It’s such a joy to look back at the photos of the past year. In each photo, I can see more than just our beautiful dancers. I can see new friendships forming and old friendships strengthening. I can see students working toward their goals as well as students learning to work together as a team. And in some I just simply see smiles and good times! We look forward to building more friendships, goals, teamwork, and memories in 2020.
