Leander Center Stage – 2015 in Review

Happy New Year!  A new year means new possibilities, new goals, and new friendships.  We look forward to seeing what 2016 has in store for us at Center Stage.  2015 brought us great growth, great teachers, and great friends.  We want to take a moment to reflect on all the fun we had in 2015.

In January and February, we had some awesome dance intensives that gave our students the opportunity to experience different styles of dance and learn from different teachers.  Ms. Diedra taught the Hip-Hop Intensive in January, and Ms. Nikki taught the Jazz Intensive in February.

Our company dancers spent March working hard on their competition dances in preparation for the upcoming competition season.  They also had some fun with in-class dress rehearsals.

We attend competitions in March, April, and May.  This past year we went to On Stage Productions, Stage One, and Talent on Parade.  Our dancers came home with several overall awards as well as special judge’s awards, but more importantly, they had fun with their dance friends!

In early May, we also did our dance recital pictures.  It’s always so much fun to see our beautiful dancers in their new recital costumes.

May was a busy month at Center Stage!  Some of our dance company groups participated in the Old Town Street Festival in Leander.  It’s a great local event that brings the community together and is fun for the whole family.

June is probably the month the students look forward to the most.  In June, we do our annual dance recital where the students get to showcase what they have learned over the year.  They love performing for their friends and family.  Below is a photo of our Pointe II class backstage.

After a short break, we get back to dancing over the summer.  Our older dancers participate in week long dance intensives while our younger dancers have fun at Frozen dance camp.

By August, it’s time to gear up for the new dance year again.  Our company dancers get together for Company Camp in August.  During these camps, they meet their new teammates, do team building, and begin learning their competition dances.  It’s always a fun time!

September officially starts the new dance year.  We love meeting new dance families and seeing all of our returning dancers again after the summer break.  One of the most fun weeks at the studio is our dress-up week in October.  We enjoyed seeing all of the little princesses and pirates and fairies.  We had some very creative costumes as well like an emoji and a Starbuck’s coffee cup!

Halloween
Halloween is so much fun at the dance studio.  We have some of the cutest ghosts, goblins, and mostly princesses, in Leander.

Some of our dancers achieved their goal of earning their pointe shoes in October.  These girls have been dancing for several years, and we are so proud of them for reaching the next level in their dance training!

In November, some of our classes performed at the Living Leander Business Expo.  Our dancers all performed beautifully.  It’s going to be a great season.

In early December, we had a Pirouettes for Presents Toy Drive.  Our dancers donated toys to A World for Children, a foster/adoption agency.

We had a blast at our Polar Express Party in December.  We danced, made jingle bell necklaces, read the story, and drank hot cocoa – all in our pajamas!

Our last event for 2015 was attending the Dancemakers Convention in San Antonio.  Our dancers had the opportunity to learn from amazing choreographers, and we all enjoyed the Riverwalk.

We can’t wait to see all the exciting possibilities that 2016 holds.  It’s going to be a great year at Center Stage!
